I have heard a lot of talk about President Obama and the teleprompters he uses when he is delivering speeches and a lot of it seems to be kind of negative. It seems there are a lot of people who get kind of turned off by the fact that The President uses teleprompters.
President Obama is not the first to make use of teleprompters. I know that is hard to believe sometimes given the attention being paid to it by his political adversaries, but it is true nevertheless.
The following United States Presidents have had access to and made use of teleprompters when making addresses to the nation:
Presidents: Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, George H. W. Bush, Clinton, G.W. Bush and Obama.
Some made more use of it than others but all have used it.
The fact that our President uses teleprompters has no bearing on his aptitude or ineptness for leading the nation.
The teleprompter is a tool. It is not unlike reading from a typed script which is what they used to use before the teleprompters came into vogue.
Obama does seem to use the teleprompter a little more than some of his predecessors, but I guess he is entitled to make use of the tools with which he feels most comfortable— like anyone would do!
There are a lot of people in the know who will swear up and down that it takes a lot of focus and skill to properly use a teleprompter.
From that, I am assuming that President Obama possesses a lot of admirable skills and that he is very well focused.
