The high cost of tax breaks for the rich!

OP-ED by John

Individual tax payers reportedly shelled out as much as $1,026 each in 2012 to support massive tax breaks and incentives for the richest 1% of Americans – - – those who live at the top of the fiscal food chain – - – and according to some reports, there is no end in sight!

Yes, according to the information I have read, the everyday, ordinary, non-rich, time-clock-punching average American is paying through the nose so that the Richies can enjoy lavish lifestyles and  material splendors.

According to some experts who actually seem to me to care about the “little guy” it is well past time to close some of the loopholes that are reportedly strangling the economy and putting the personal fortunes of millions of ordinary citizens in chains – - – in bondage – - – to the welfare for the rich in this country.

If this kind of disclosure ratchets up your interest and you want to learn some more about it, I would recommend reading the following from “Think Progress.”

Are social security cuts now possible?

The western front of the United States Capitol...

The western front of the United States Capitol. The Capitol serves as the seat of government for the United States Congress, the legislative branch of the U.S. federal government. It is located in Washington, D.C., on top of Capitol Hill at the east end of the National Mall. The building is marked by its central dome above a rotunda and two wings. It is an exemplar of the Neoclassical architecture style. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

I have been hearing reports that the president might be considering some measures that could result in a reduction in the growth of social security benefits for seniors – - – and others – - -

So far all I have been hearing about is how the president wants a budget deal that includes more revenues and how the Republicans don’t want any more taxation but they would love to see some reductions made in the social safety net programs.

I do not personally see how the unstoppable force and the immoveable object coming together in this debate is ever going to produce anything positive but I do have a thought or two about how to cut expenses in Washington – - -

My idea is to have our government stop a lot of the freebies they have been giving to other countries – - – a lot of the foreign aid that goes to God only knows where – - – I think a lot of foreign aid ought to be reviewed in terms of whether the United States is receiving any appreciable return on investment – - – and in cases where it is not or the return is negligible, the aid should stop!  Plain and simple.

I think the government ought to be spending more government money  - – - our money actually – - – on the needs of the American People and a helluva lot less on the needs of other nations  - – - that’s my opinion about it.

What’s yours?

Another right wing mystery surfaces!

Opinion Of A Raving Liberal

Is it just me or what?

It seems to me like a lot of the far right wing radical types are always griping, bitching, complaining and moaning about how they feel the “Gubmint” ( regionalism for “Government”) is always trying to take their freedoms, liberties and rights away from them – - -

But guess who is usually first in line to try to get the – - – Gubmint – - – to take away – - – or prevent – - – the rights, liberties and freedoms of other people?

What’s that all about?

Does anybody even know?

By the way – - – does anybody remember that President Reagan raised taxes no less than Eleven (11) times while he was in office?
