When I was a kid, back in the 1940s and 50s, everyone seemed to get along together and even help each other out when there was a need.
It didn’t matter that Old Mrs. Hammond was a Republican or a Liberal or whatever…’If she had swollen feet and couldn’t make it to the doctor’s office, one of the neighbors would take her and bring her home again later.
No money changed hands. It was done out of something called “Love of Neighbor.”
That was a long time before the United States became the Red States and The Blue States. That was a long time before there were “Real” Americans and “Un” Americans. (Especially on political campaign attack advertising.).
“Glo-reh! Hal-Lee-Loo-Yah, Brother!”
Those were the days when Christian Preachers and Ministers would talk from their pulpits about sin, forgiveness, love of one’s fellow man, salvation, Heaven and Hell.
Back then, the preachers left “Politics” to the politicians and it was the voting booth and not the church vestibule where political campaigning peaked.
Those were the days before the extreme right wing arose from some dark and fiery place and tried to kidnap Jesus from the Cross and tie him up in the voting booth.

If you listen to some” Conservative” “Christians” long enough, they will surely explain, in the minutest detail, why Jesus just had to be a Conservative and how and why He hated Liberals and Liberalism so much.
“Mah Bobble Tells Me…”
( And sometimes, depending on which part of The Bible Belt they come from, many of them will point out why Jesus hates Homosexuals and immigrants and anyone who just doesn’t happen to be caucasian in persuasion.).
I knew this one person once who loved to purchase quantities of the book, “Catcher In The Rye” and make a ritual out of drinking beer and burning them in his back yard. Boy he was really doing “The Work Of The Lord,” this one was!
It was this same idiot who told me with all sincerity that the reason the indigenous peoples of The United States lost their homeland was because they had begun to espouse Homosexuality in their culture.
That is how some of them are folks, and I don’t think there is any changing them! I think, sometimes, that if they had any advanced formal education at all, they must have gotten their degrees from a mail order house somewhere.
“Ah Know Whut Ah Know…”
Many of these closed-minded individuals act like total hayseed rubes who have never grown up.
What they know is often no more than others in their social circle have told them (Peer Education) and most of that is based on either Right Wing Talk Show propaganda or on something that some other rube has picked up from rumors down at “Frickwhanks bar and Grill.”

A lot of these idiots still think that our President is a Muslim and that one is automatically a “Christian” if they are born in America because America, as everyone knows, is a Christian Nation.
Some of them actually believe they are born as Christians because they were born in The United States.
That is their twisted and perverse interpretation of “Born Again” (Or Borned Agin, depending on which socio-economic pit they have climbed out of.).
I know that a lot of these “Political Experts” who turn their baseball caps backward and have guns strapped to their sides at political rallies and who can barely speak the English Language, much less spell any of it, love to troll on Internet sites and make nasty remarks about Liberals.

They have nothing better to do because that is the very heights of where their limited intellect takes them.
Neanderthals with a biscuit in one hand and a chicken leg in the other, they walk the earth, stumbling through life and hating everything and everyone that gets in their way.
Yes folks, the Devil does walk among us today…and His Name is “Right Wing Extremest.”
I think, sometimes, they are just a step away from using searchlights at their political gatherings, wearing jack boots and marching in goose step. All they need now is a charismatic “Messiah” figure and we are all in terrible trouble.
God is not a Republican and Jesus was never a Conservative. The Right Wing does not have an exclusive lock on either Religion or Morality. The Right Wing is superior to nobody and are, in fact, the least voted-in minority in American Political History.
America tries Right Wing Extremest policy from time to time, but they always seem to come back to Liberal Administrations to fix the disastrous messes caused by their ill-advised temporary adventures to the Right side of the political aisle.
The Real End Times
If the American Far Right Extreme ever realizes their dream of permanent political power in this country, it will be the last administration because it will be the end of America.
They will pillage and plunder it into a memory just before they turn on one another to devour one another. (And they are known to turn on their own kind once they run out of Liberals to hate.)
All you have to be if you are a Right Winger is a Poor Right Winger and you will quickly discover how much they care about you. They will leave you in the dust as fast as their little feet can run because if you are poor, you are bad!
So, back to the point! If Jesus is not exclusively a Right Winger, then what is He?
Of course, if you take a close look at the earthly ministry of Jesus Christ, you will soon discover that He was totally in favor of programs to help the poor and needy and He would have been the first to embrace the concept of Universal Health Care. Jesus was, in fact, the first and most effective functional Liberal!
Let the Right Wing Extremists put that in their pipe and smoke it!
If you voice disagreement with most Right Wing religious fanatics in the slightest degree, you will be told that “You are out of context with your Scripture References.”
If that doesn’t dissuade your side of the argument, you will be told that you are under control of “A” Devil or worse yet, “The Devil” and that you had better “Get Right” with The Lord before you die and go to Hell and burn forever.
The Deaf Cannot Hear; The Blind Cannot See…”
I have never won an argument with one of these hypocritical, self-righteous, arrogant fools yet. They are always “Right” and I am always “Wrong” about everything! You see, folks, “Liberals” suffer from a mental illness. Liberals do not have political views on things; they have “Diseased” views on things! Hal-ee-loo-yah, Brother! A-Friggin’-Men!
That is how Religion has changed since I was a kid. It is all argument and hatred and vitriol now, unless someone happens to agree with the twisted right wing extremeist religious and world view.
Agree with them and they have “Won A soul For The Lord” and the newly-won soul will surely vote against the evils of Liberalism won’t he or she?

Everyone knows, of course, that God is a Republican and that His total concern is to dictate political policies to the Far Right Extreme.
The Far Right Wing Extremists know God and they know Him well. They know the Bible backwards and forwards and they can argue anything they want to and they are always right and you are always wrong because God is on their side and if you don’t agree with them, you are on the devil’s side.
If you happen to disagree with a Right Wing Extremest on a Scriptural point, you are either “Misinterpreting The Bible” or you are “Out Of Context.
There is no way that anyone but a Right Winger is going to have any real Bible knowledge because the Holy Spirit speaks exclusively to them by means of Right Wing Talk Radio and the anointed potheads and alkies that spew their hateful garbage 24-hours-a-day.
Those became popular in Germany in the 1930s and 40s with about the same kind of temperament that I am talking about here.
