The article began, “Fifty years of welfare in this country has taught us nothing.”
The dimwit who wrote this is of course referring to the fact that America helps out Her needy citizens with such things as Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Food Stamps, The Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children and other safety nets that one might expect a truly “Christian” government to provide.
Conservatism loves to flash it’s King James Bible around and proclaim to the World how morally superior it is but when it comes down to the nitty gritty, it isn’t hard to prove by observation, that there is very little— and perhaps even nothing “Christian” about it.
It seems that everything many of those, in Congress especially, have tried to do in their legislative moves since Obama was elected is designed to deny help to the elderly, the unemployed and the poor. You will never convince me there is anything Christian about any of that kind of thing.
When one of these know-littles tells me that America has a “Socialist” government that steals from the haves to give to the have nots, I do a slow burn because I know just how darned ignorant such a statement is.
Take Social Security for example. Too many of the mentally bereft who cling to Conservatism for comfort and support do not seem to realize that it is not the “Entitlement” program they think it is.
Social Security recipients have spent their entire working lives contributing to the system from their paychecks.
In other words, they have paid their premiums and their dues and they are getting nothing at the expense of taxpayers.
They are taxpayers themselves and they have paid for their own Social Security.
That escapes some air heads entirely– especially the ones who would like to do away with Social Security and give it to their rich friends in the form of massive tax breaks. (And there are plenty of those these days.)
Conservatism likes to get in my face and tell me that all the years America has been concerned about “Social Justice” has been nothing but a dismal failure and a waste of money.
I think when they say stuff like that they are really telling me that if America didn’t waste so much money trying to help her needy citizens, there would be all that much more for the greedy rich to stuff their bellies with.
If America has failed to meet the needs of her Citizens and to provide the help needed to those in desperate circumstances, I think we can give thanks to Conservative obstructionism which has been front and center in the Public eye lately.
As I see it, they simply cannot wait to get into a position where they can do away with all those “Socialist” government “Give Away’s” to the rabble who “Never work and who have no work ethic or any role models to make productive citizens of them” as claimed by some of the more obtuse of their socially unaware political candidates.
The defenders of the super rich like to remind us of all the taxes they do pay into the system and, admittedly, it amounts to billions. But what they are not saying is how much of those taxes are dodged by paying them to the governments of other countries who host their offshore businesses– you know, the ones where all the good American Jobs were shipped to.
When the offshore billionaires pay taxes to another nation, the U.S. tears up any bill they may owe to America because America does not believe in double taxation.
So, in effect, many of the billionaire industrialists are doing more to support foreign governments than they do to support The United States.
So, don’t tell me about all the patriotic support these opportunists are giving to America! It just ain’t there no matter what Mr. or Mrs. backward base ball cap beer belly has to say about it.
